Emergence- The Storm

I was taking a breath outside, standing peacefully and contemplatively at the top of the steps of Sebbe’s garden. The sky was blue, the birds were singing and the air was alive with the laughter of children.

Suddenly, without warning, the air carried a chill and the sky blackened over like spilled ink. Raindrops splattered and bounced off the leaves in the pots on the terrace, ice cold fingerprints of wet pressed against my arms and caressed my cheeks.

It was storming.

Sebbe came and stood outside with me and we watched in awed silence. The hail wasn’t far behind and it whipped and slashed the grass, tarmac and plants.  I went inside to shelter, but stayed by the window to watch as Mother Nature poured her blessings upon the Earth.

“We were standing in the door opening, listening to all the beautiful sounds the rain brought, holding my arm around you. Together, watching the clouds, just felt so relaxing and a poetic truth could be found. Just poetic and calming.”~ Sebbe.

Sebbe wrote a poem~

“The Artists gather
Only in the sunshine
Sharing their creations, laughter and loves
The Artists only gather in the nicest of weathers
Day and night
For the rain storms
Only bring them their inspiration and muse closer
And even more powerful.”

Here is my mixed media painting that inspired me:

The girl is being bathed in the rejuvenating rays of the sun, connected to the intricate growth in an almost cell-like structure of the sun above her. The greens that surround her are coming alive in the daze of the Spring air, until the raindrops start to shimmer and leak, then wash down on her and her land as she breathes in their fresh, pure life.

The Art print is now available with or without the poem.

In order to give light and space to the text, I have lightened the overall image, giving it an etheral, water-like feel.
